Dr. Ingeborg Kraus, a psychologist from Karlsruhe, Germany, speaks about what she has learned listening to women with a diversity of experiences in prostitution and human trafficking. She illustrates the impacts of trauma in relation to prostitution and human trafficking.

A Woman’s Journey Through Prostitution

The Sexual Exploitation Working Group (SEWG) hosted a Lunch & Learn with Rachel Moran on December 7, 2015.

Rachel discussed her experiences and aimed to dispel commonly accepted myths around the sex trade, including how she became involved in prostitution, why it was difficult to escape, and why she supports the Nordic Model in addressing the issue legislatively.

Street-based sex activities are often the most visible but only account for an estimated 20% of prostitution activities in Canada. The majority of activity occurs indoors and online.

Edmonton has another little secret – There is hope! We can stop sexual exploitation.
